25.08.2010 — Institute of Internal Auditors Opens Regional Office in N.Novgorod


On June 30 the Institute of Internal Auditors held its first meeting at the regional center in Nizhny Novgorod under the auspices of KPMG.

The meeting focused on the functioning of corporate internal audit services and was moderated by Rozanna Urazova, Deputy Director of the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Alexander Tarasenko, Risk&Compliance Manager at KPMG, gave a presentation on forming a risk management service from scratch and interacting with the internal audit service. Anton Pershin, Head of Internal Audit at MegaFon, presented the company’s experience in internal auditing incorporated in the enterprise management system.

Representatives of the region’s leading companies, such as the GAZ Group, TGC-6, VolgaTelecom, the Volga Paper Mill, Gazprom, Megafon, and the Nizhny Novgorod Machine-Building Plant, attended the meeting.

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) was established in 2000 to further the professional development of internal auditors and to act as an internal expert audit body all over Russia. IIA currently has regional centers in the Northwestern, Urals, Southern and, since May, Volga federal districts (http://www.iia-ru.ru/).

The IIA regional center in Nizhny Novgorod allows internal auditors, in-house audit unit employees and internal control and risk management specialists working at enterprises in the Volga Federal District to exchange information and experience.

“KPMG has successfully worked with the Institute of Internal Auditors for many years, supporting its activities in promoting and developing the profession of the internal auditor in Russia,” Ilya Kotlov, Head of Internal Audit at KPMG, said. According to Kotlov, KPMG has always paid great attention to cooperation with Russian companies in sharing best practices in internal audit, internal control and risk management. “We are eager to assist the IIA in establishing its regional center in Nizhny Novgorod and contributing to the future professional development of internal auditors in the Volga Federal District,” so Kotlov.

The next meeting of IIA Nizhny Novgorod Regional Center will take place on September, 28 at 4 pm (16.00) at the Stolitsa Nizhny Business Center (ul. Gorkogo, 117, 9th floor).
