04.02.2010 - AGA Brings Members Together for Evaluation, Election and Planning

The Annual General Assembly brought together ICANN members on February 3 at FORUS Bank to evaluate past activities and to plan new ones. Despite the difficult economic situation of 2009, the number of ICANN members managed to increase and more events were held than in years prior.

Succeeding Despite Crisis

ICANN President Reinhold von Ungern-Sternberg proclaimed ICANN’s annual meeting with the regional Governor Valery Shantsev, reception with US Ambassador to Russia John Beyrle, Corporate Visit to Intel Site and Ancor’s presentation on the local job market to be ones of the most outstanding events of 2009. Last year ICANN members also gathered together for a number of social occasions. They cooked authentic Goulash at a corporate party at the Museum of Wooden Architecture, visited an art studio of the Nizhny Novgorod artist Natalia Pankova and went on a discovery tour to Gorodets (the region’s most ancient town).

“Along with numerous business-related activities, we at ICANN pay close attention to the social development of the region,” von Ungern-Sternberg said. “Last year, for instance, we raised more than 80,000 rubles for charity purposes and supported several charity and volunteer projects.”

ICANN President and Coordinator also shared financial statements with the members, highlighting the fact that the membership fee has only been increased once in the past four years.

ICANN Board Re-Elected

Election of ICANN President and Vice-Presidents was another important point on the agenda. Roeland Van Gestel, General Manager of Lear plant, conducted the election process.

Giving thanks to the excellent work done, Reinhold von Ungern-Sternberg was re-elected as ICANN President for 2010 by all representatives of member companies. Walter Steffen, Restaurant IL Porto, was re-assigned as ICANN Vice-President. Also, Vladimir Bogdanov, Intel Nizhny Novgorod Branch Manager, was elected as ICANN’s second Vice-President. This position is primarily focused on ICANN’s public relations.  And to finish off the elections, Olga Shpenkova, Schneider Electric, was re-elected as ICANN Treasurer once again. Congratulations!

From Corrosion Protection to Worldwide Recruitment

At the meeting, five new members introduced their companies to fellow members. Johannes Lusser from Collini LLC told the long history of the Austrian enterprise specializing in corrosion and decorative coatings. Svetlana Neznanova presented Kelly Services CIS and its extended recruitment services, while Denis Panov from Monster Russia showed the participants at the meeting the new Monster website in Russia.

General Director of Freudenberg Politex LLC, Andrey Deko, updated ICANN members on its superior efforts in roofing production, with polyester nonwovens sold as reinforcement for bituminous membranes. Finally, Reinhold von Ungern-Sternberg talked about Flaig+Hommel’s newly-opened plant of fastening elements in the town of Zavolzhie.

Recycling is Stylish & Cool

During the event planning session Evgeny Zakablukovsky from Intel Corporation presented ICANN Members the pilot project Recycling is Stylish & Cool, initiated by Intel, supported by MEGA-NN, ICANN and the Regional Legislative Assembly. The goal of the project is to enhance ecological awareness among citizens of Nizhny Novgorod and help them understand the importance of recycling. Project volunteers will work as promoters and conduct quizzes and master-classes on ecological issues during two weekends in February in the MEGA-Mall.
