VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus is part of the global group Volkswagen AG and encompasses the operations on the Russian market of seven brands — Volkswagen, ŠKODA, Audi, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, SEAT, Bentley and Lamborghini. In 2012 VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus increased its sales in Russia at 38% up to circa 315.000 vehicles, of which 175.000 were produced in Russia.

Since November 2007 VOLKSWAGEN Group Rus has been producing cars in Kaluga, 170 km south-west from Moscow. In October 2009 the plant started full cycle production in the presence of Vladimir Putin and Russian political elite. In June 2011 Volkswagen Group Rus and GAZ signed the contract manufacturing agreement in Nizhny Novgorod, according to which the new Volkswagen Jetta, ŠKODA Octavia and ŠKODA Yeti will be produced at the GAZ Plant in Nizhny Novgorod. The production capacity will be more than 110.000 cars per annum, with the investment totaling 300 million euros.

With a total investment volume of 1074 million eurosVOLKSWAGEN Group Rus is the largest investor in the Russian automotive sector.

In 2009 Volkswagen Group Rus became the official automobile partner for the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Volkswagen Group Rus will supply circa 3500 vehicles of Volkswagen, Audi, ŠKODA and Volkswagen commercial vehicles brands to the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee for use during preparations and the Sochi 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Significant part of the vehicles will be produced at the plants in Russia.
